The largest projection mapping show ever staged covered 40 skyscrapers simultaneously in the Futian District of Shenzhen, China, premiering on December 22, 2019. It was created by MediaCraft, a Polish projection mapping and CGI studio, whose design won First Prize in the international competition of the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture (UABB) Shenzhen/Hong Kong.

How the record show came about
In 2019 the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture (UABB) — organized by the Municipal Government of Futian District, the Shenzhen Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau, and the New Media Public Art Committee of the Shenzhen City of Design Promotion Association — held an international competition for a light show spanning the centre of Shenzhen.
MediaCraft's concept won the First Award, selected by an 11-member international jury including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and faculty of Tsinghua University, Tongji University and the Beijing Film Academy. The concept was presented on November 17, 2019 at the UABB Shenzhen Light Show International Forum at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Planning Exhibition (MOCAPE), and the show premiered on December 22, 2019.

Unlike single-facade mapping, the content had to be choreographed across an entire skyline: each of the 40 towers carried its own animation while remaining part of one synchronized, city-scale composition with an original score.
